we will finish reviewing fraction operations and start working with equations and expressions (involving fractions of course)! Math: Nov 12-16
Students will work on dividing fractions (as well as reviewing adding, subtracting, and multiplying). Students will take a PRACTICE ACT Aspire on Wednesday, as well. Math: Nov 5-9
A new unit starts this week! We will be reviewing some fifth grade fraction skills through some various problems and tasks. Hopefully students will be feeling confident and ready to start dividing fractions by next week! Math: October 29-Nov 2
Students will be reviewing our unit on rates to prepare for a Test on Friday! Math: October 22-26
This week students will start working with percents! Students will find percents of numbers in many real-world scenarios and even go"shopping" in the classroom for some practice with sales and percents on Wednesday! Math: October 15-19
This week students will start working with percents! Students will find percents of numbers in many real-world scenarios and even go "shopping" in the classroom for some practice with sales and percents on Wednesday! Math: October 8-12
Students will continue studying rates and rate tables. This week will focus on unit rates, pricing, and conversions. Students will become fluent in real-world applications of these topics! Math: October 1-5
Students will continue studying ratios and rates! They will use reasoning to complete several activities and word problems set in the real world that use rates- there will be a lot of teamwork and group learning/working together! Math: September 24-28
Students will begin a new unit on Ratios! We will do several activities to compare equivalent ratios around the room and solving problems using rates! Math: September 17-24:
Students will spend the week doing various review activities to prepare for our first Edulastic at the end of the week! Math: September 10-14
Students will work on evaluating expressions and order of operations! There will be a game students can play to practice their skills! My intern will also teach a lesson using a scavenger hunt on distributive property to review! Math: August 27-31
Students will continue finding GCF and LCM this week using a new method called prime factorizations. Students will use this knowledge to work with exponential expressions as well! There are several fun games and team activities that students will play to enhance their math skills! Science: August 27-31 We will begin our Energy unit this week! We will spend the days building background knowledge and learning the basics of matter to make sure our foundation is good! Math: September 4-7
Students will work on expressions and distributive property this week! They will play several games to practice the distributive property and make expressions of their own! Math:August 20-24
This week we will use our previous understandings of factors and multiples to find the Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple in real world problems. We will informally assess every day and check our understanding at the end of the week with an independent assignment! Math: August 13th-17th
During the first week back we will spend a day going over the expectations of the class! Then, we will start with the Factor game to help students understand how factors work in mathematical situations! |
Science Dec. 17-20
We will turn in makeup work and present our human impacts pollution posters! Science: Dec 10-14
We will be finishing presentations over our water cycle projects and learning a bit about how humans impact the Earth via pollution, using minerals, etc. Science: Dec 3-7
In science we will spend most of the week working on our water cycle projects! Students really get a chance to be creative with it! Science: Nov 24-28
We are starting our water cycle mini-unit in science. Students will learn about it and then get a chance to create some fun projects! Science: Nov 12-16
Students will review Newton's Laws of Motion and prepare for an assessment over those at the end of the week! Science: Nov 5-9
We will finally get back to Science this week after several interruptions last week! We will be finishing our Newton’s Laws’ studies with Law three and a lab over it this week! Science: October 29-Nov 2
Students will finish our study of Newton’s laws by studying the third and final law! Science: October 22-26
Students will participate in a lab this week over motion and speed! We learned the basics last week and now it is time to apply it with some toy cars! Science: October 15-19
Students will participate in a lab this week over motion and speed! We learned the basics last week and now it is time to apply it with some toy cars! Science: October 8-12
This week both classes will student motion, including 2 labs over speed! This will lead us to study Newton's laws next week! Science: October 1-5
My homeroom will be studying thermal energy and testing on Friday! Mr. Money’s class will be continuing their work on their energy efficiency and conservation research projects! Science: September 4-7
My homeroom will spend the week building background knowledge over changes in states of matter and how energy is involved in those physical changes! Mr. Money’s homeroom will learn about all the types of energy and end the week with a rubber band lab to demonstrate potential and kinetic energy! Science: August 13th-17th
During the first week back we will discuss lab safety, and begin analyzing at how scientists think, observe, and interact with the world around them! Science: 24-28
My homeroom is continuing to study types of energy including how waves transport energy. They started the week with a rubber band lab that showcased potential and kinetic energies! Mr. Money’s class is studying energy efficiency and conservation- leading to a research project! Science: August 20-24
Students will continue working on introductory science skills by participating in several labs and engineering activities! Fun fun! Science: 10-14
